History/ Story:[]
- The small coastal village of Weeden is home to many quaint fishermen and other denizens. A protectorate of Midgaard and the realm of good King Welmar, it enjoys the security and peace provided by the beneficent ruler. After journeying through the endless tracts of the great forest of Haon-Dor, a weary traveler can find succor at Tarle's Tavern, provender at the Harborside Restaurant, or further training from the skillful guildmaster and jack-of-all-trades Numinis. Adventurers should be wary, however, of violent street thugs and a pesky dog that wanders the streets. There are also sinister but as-yet unconfirmed rumors of an evil priesthood worshipping a hideous demon beneath the city's peaceful streets. Should a group of brave adventurers dare the labrinyth under the city, information regarding this cult would be of great value to the village council.
Weeden Underground (Black Maze)[]
- The maze and it's dark inhabitants was added in 1998 by Steppin and Ching. It is presented here as part of the larger Weeden area.
Mobs of Note:[]
- Helga, Tarle the Shopkeeper (!magic), Numinis, Bart, Portmaster (center ivory triptych panel), Jannie the Barmaid, fisherman, Black High Priest (old leather belt, left ivory triptych panel), White High Priest (center ivory triptych panel), Demon (crystalblade, left ivory triptych panel) black cultists and the minotaur (right ivory triptych panel).
Zone Strategies:[]
- Weeden is a favorite of experience groups. Weeden mobs are mostly !phys (resist physical damage) and ninjas (with the critical hit skill) do well here.
- Use a Bard to debuff (slow, hopelessness, rage)each of the big mobs on the route (Helga, Bart, Numinis and the Portmaster) and tank with at least -100AC. A Bard / Fighter duo should not require heals. Optionally, a Cleric / Fighter duo will find success with blindness debuffs and armor/ stone/ aid buffs.
- Tarle (a shopkeeper) is in an !magic room, so you'll have to bash to initiate melee and rescue/summon out when low on HP.
- There are clues and/or parts to three constructible quests in Weeden and the Weeden Underground (Maze):
- The Ivory Triptych (+2 WIS/+2 INT holdable)
- the Trump of Shadows (teleporter to the Shadow Rift)
- the Ephod of the High Priest (50 AC, perma protection from evil)
- The holy man provides clues to the Ephod quest. Take a few moments to listen to his speech procedure.
- There is a shortcut to the northern part of the Weeden Underground maze via the Revolting Pit in the Town Square.
> open secret
- There is a secret room, Raven's Sanctum, accessible via the Miserable Chapel, via a hidden doorway.
